BlueSpice 3.0.1 Patch Release

18. January 2019

Following the release of the long-awaited BlueSpice version 3.0 at the end of 2018, we are pleased to announce significant improvements to our Enterprise Wiki software with the first patch release.

In this article we give you a quick overview of the innovations you can expect:

1. Switching between the editors

Editors can now switch between visual editing and text editing without having to (temporarily) save. This is very helpful if you want to review the wikitext or add additional features that are only available in Wikitext.

2. Privacy Center: Data protection and DSGVO/ GDPR

Whether user or administrator: In the future, wiki users will have improved control over their personal data stored in BlueSpice. Users will not only be able to apply for anonymization and deletion of their account, but will also be able to retrieve all data stored about them. In addition, the management of consents for cookies and privacy policies has been optimized.

Anonymization and deletion requests can be managed on the administrators’ side. In addition, data protection officers are given an overview of which users have given their consent to cookies and data protection guidelines.

The new features cover essential requirements of the DSGVO (EU Data Protection Basic Regulation) and make it easier for administrators to comply with applicable regulations. In the coming updates of BlueSpice, this function will be further optimized to meet the requirements and procedures regarding the DSGVO. We will publish a separate article on this topic in the next weeks with further details.

3. Customizable top navigation

The header area of your wiki can now be used to include an additional navigation area (top navigation). It is conceivable, for example, to integrate a central, cross-page navigation or to place important links to other platforms. There are no limits to your creativity. The navigation is hierarchically structured and has a predefined number of navigation levels.

4. Revision status

With our new revision list, quality managers can view the condition of all pages that are subject to a quality check. The list can be filtered both by page name and by approval status.

5. Navigation and access rights

In BlueSpice 3.0 some navigation areas were shown or hidden depending on the login status of a user. For example, users who were not logged in could not see the book list, even if they had read permission. This problem is now solved.

6. Backlinking

Users navigating to a discussion page now have a link to return to the original page without having to press the back button. This makes it easier to navigate between the pages and the corresponding discussions.

Where do we go from here?

The goal is to release patches at much shorter intervals in the future, so that even small improvements can be introduced into the production system of our customers more quickly.
