BlueSpice 5.0 takes the management of your corporate knowledge to a new level. The major update offers many new features as well as improvements to existing functions. What’s new in BlueSpice 5.0?
BlueSpice 5.0 contains the LTS version MediaWiki REL1.43 and is also compatible with PHP 8.3. The major update also uses Semantic MediaWiki version 5.0, so your knowledge base is completely up to date – with long-term support.
MultiLanguage & LanguageTransfer –

Translate wikis automatically and transfer content
Multilingual knowledge bases are no problem with BlueSpice 5.0. Create a master wiki in the farm edition and create sub-wikis in other languages from there. The translations are created automatically using the DeepL AI. This saves you a lot of time when maintaining multilingual content. You can also define title dictionaries or glossary translations for uniform language usage.
Use the language functions with your company’s own DeepL API-Key.
Adhoc Translation – Translate content in real time
A single wiki page has not yet been translated? Simply translate the content live into your wiki language and don’t waste time asking. The function uses the DeepL AI with your company’s own API-Key.
Process diagrams – Create BPMN graphics and link them to content
Create and edit BPMN diagrams for process management even more conveniently from BlueSpice 5.0. The intuitive editor allows you to draw detailed process diagrams. You can also create sub-pages for the individual process steps, which can be pre-filled with templates. The pages are linked with their own navigation. Incoming and outgoing process steps are therefore directly linked.

Improved social functions
The blogging system has been completely revised in BlueSpice 5.0. The user-friendly operation and simple creation of comments make discussions in the wiki an indispensable tool for your teamwork. The creation of separate blogs for news, for example, has also been completely revised.
PDF Export – Create templates for documents
Customize your exports from BlueSpice to match your corporate design. Create your own templates for your PDF documents from version 5.0 in the cloud and on premises. Our new PDF export is also WCAG-compliant, so you can create accessible documents for your corporate communications.

BlueSpice 5.0 offers even more improvements such as:
- BlueSpiceDiscovery: Improvement of the Discovery Skin for BlueSpice 5.
- BlueSpiceExtendedSearch: Fine-tuning search behaviour and optimizing the display of search results. Preserving user-specific settings for the results in the search center.
- Move from ExtJS framework to OOJSPlus:The former ExtJS framework has been completely replaced by OOJSPlus. This includes a large number of extensions. More at https://en.wiki5.bluespice.com/wiki/Setup:Release_Notes#Improvements.
- BlueSpiceRating: Page properties for ratings and recommendations can be created.
- UserProfile: Changes to the user profile interface. The changes also affect the “UserProfile” droplet.

Are you an On-Premises customer and want to upgrade?
The download packages for BlueSpice pro and farm will be available in version 5.1 by mid-May. If you require further information or are interested in an upgrade or a cost estimate, please contact our service team. Using a staggered and clearly defined upgrade process, we will migrate your data securely and reliably to BlueSpice 5.1 as soon as it is available. Any remaining support quota will be fully credited against the upgrade costs.
