New Golem Newsletter Article:
Accessibility in BlueSpice
11. May 2026
How can complex enterprise software truly become more accessible? And why isn’t it enough to simply test and implement requirements internally? In the latest Golem newsletter “Chefs von Devs”, Richard Heigl, CEO of Hallo Welt!, speaks openly about BlueSpice’s journey toward better digital accessibility. This isn’t just about technical requirements, standards, and testing procedures; above all, it’s about a learning process that goes far beyond traditional software development.
The starting point was sobering: BlueSpice initially failed its first audits. This demonstrated that the commitment to implementing accessibility must be complemented by specialized expertise and practical testing. Real improvements require expert knowledge, authentic testing, and dialogue with people who have firsthand experience with digital barriers.
Collaboration With the Pfennigparade
An important step was therefore the collaboration with Pfennigparade Business. Inklusiv. . In collaboration with digital accessibility experts, we analyzed features, evaluated test results, and implemented specific improvements directly in BlueSpice.
The shift in perspective was particularly valuable: accessibility isn’t achieved simply by ticking off a list of criteria. It arises from the interplay of product development, UX, front-end development, external expertise, and testing by people with various disabilities. This allowed us not only to remove existing barriers but also to build up our own expertise within the team.
An Ongoing Part of Product Development
Today, digital accessibility is an integral part of BlueSpice’s ongoing development. At the same time, it remains clear that, when it comes to large-scale enterprise software, accessibility is not a static goal but an ongoing process.
This newsletter article offers an honest look at this journey – sharing experiences, setbacks, lessons learned, and specific insights into our collaboration with Pfennigparade.
