Integration and connectivity

From central authentication through external data sources to connecting your enterprise search: BlueSpice can be seamlessly integrated into your IT architecture.

Central authentication

BlueSpice can be connected to your central user administration, the place where you find the master and login data of your colleagues, such as user names, passwords, telephone numbers or departmental affiliation.

Your advantages:

  • Convenient access: log in automatically and start working right away.
  • Quick access to the wiki with the company-wide password.
  • The user administration in the wiki is always up to date.
  • Only authorized employees get access to the wiki.

The following connection systems are supported:

  • LDAP / Active Directory (AD)
  • SAML

Single sign-on with Kerberos is also possible.

BlueSpice offers a number of tools to create links to files outside the wiki. Basically, you can address any system that is accessible via URL such as intranet articles, Lotus Notes addresses, SharePoint documents or documents from your document management system.

Your advantages:

  • Make documents of special size, in special formats or from your file system accessible to wiki users.
  • Documents remain at the storage location and do not need to be migrated into the wiki.
  • Existing user rights are retained: the documents can be found, but are readable only with the appropriate permissions and access options.

Working with external documents

Upload Office documents like Word or Excel files to your wiki. With a WebDAV connection, you can open and edit them from the wiki. It’s that simple.

Your advantages:

  • Edit Office documents such as Word or Excel files directly in your wiki without having to upload them again.
  • Store documents and wiki pages in virtual folders in your file system and manage them in the file explorer. This allows you to edit content with an external editor, change structures, perform mass editing and deletions and import articles automatically.
  • Quickly load documents from your file system into the wiki or retrieve them from there. Your files can be edited, moved and deleted directly from the file explorer. Importing files en masse is also possible. All changes are versioned and logged.

Connecting your enterprise search engine

Elasticsearch is key: Search outside your wiki or make the contents of your wiki available for other search engines.

Your advantages:

  • Elasticsearch also searches and indexes documents stored in a connected file system for easy access to related knowledge and relevant content. Your file system, other wikis, SharePoint lists or data from Lotus Notes or a document management system can be connected to the search engine.
  • It is also possible to have BlueSpice searched by other systems. If you already have a centralized enterprise search engine, BlueSpice provides interfaces to feed search results from the wiki into this engine.
