New MediaWiki for Tuleap

Hallo Welt! updated Enaleans knowledge base

28. June 2023

Today, Tuleap, the all-in-one tool for teams to plan, track, code, and collaborate on software products, released its version 14.10, which includes an update to the MediaWiki-based knowledge base. For this, Tuleap had turned to Hallo Welt! GmbH, one of the leading specialists for the Wikipedia software. Thanks to the cooperation of the two open-source specialists, the so-called “MediaWiki TuleapFlavour” is now technically up to date.

The Hallo Welt! GmbH is not only the developer of the enterprise wiki software BlueSpice, but also an absolute expert for MediaWiki. This made the company the ideal partner for Enalean to update the outdated knowledge base in Tuleap. Today, it is impossible to imagine many companies without the proven, classic combination of wiki and project management tool. The collaboration between the two successful open source companies means that users of “MediaWiki TuleapFlavour” can now store their knowledge in an up-to-date MediaWiki.

The biggest, visible change is certainly the visual editor. But if you want you can still edit the wiki syntax. Most of the work has been done under the hood. In the future, it will be easier to update or extend Tuleap’s MediaWiki. The upgrade to MediaWiki 1.39 is already planned.

Migrationen to Tuleap and MediaWiki

Switching from Jira, Gitlab or other programs to Tuleap is easy. As the first open-source agile application lifecycle management tool, it offers its users more features and flexibility than any other software of its kind.

Migration from other sources to Tuleap’s MediaWiki is also possible. Especially for the transfer of content from Confluence, Hallo Welt! GmbH offers a standard migration tool on GitHub. It is constantly being further developed by the company and the community. Due to the wide range of macros in Confluence, a preliminary check of the content to be transferred is nevertheless necessary. Get more information about the workflow of a Confluence migration here.

MediaWiki is not enough for you?

BlueSpice with its long list of features comes in three versions: free, pro and farm, deployable as zip file or as container from Docker Hub. Hallo Welt! offers enterprise services and support for pro and farm – but you can try them free of charge for 30 days. Just install BlueSpice in your cloud or on premises, and you will see how easily it can replace your Confluence installation long before support from Atlassian ends in February 2024. Or you may want to test the online demo. In any case: send us your questions and requests.
